The Problem
A Compliance and Management team from a large global-based fund was looking to better manage and understand data usage across the firm. The firm not only wanted to track data usage but also to understand what data PMs were accessing for research. They also wanted to correlate the data evaluations to compute spend per team and geographic location.
The Challenge
Many firms have data that is simply no longer being consumed, yet they are paying annual fees or missing auto-renewal cancellation windows. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent annually for data that is not being utilized and/or monetized to a meaningful ROI.
The Solution
Code Willing’s CWIQ Central user management platform was presented to the team. When utilized with the CWIQ FS file system and CWIQ Route, CWIQ Central provides individual user data permissions, compute budget oversight, as well as monitoring capabilities to see individual user queries down the Central line for data budgeting and compliance team monitoring.
The Result
The firm now has complete visibility into data usage across the enterprise and enhanced budget control for compute jobs. Storage costs have been reduced, data budgets have been freed up, and savings were created from data sources that weren’t being utilized. Management and Compliance can now monitor and measure as appropriate and when necessary. The team is implementing CWIQ Central further across all geographic locations.
