Earlier this month, Code Willing had the privilege of participating in the CMU Rotman Market Simulation Challenge, an event that brought together over 100 talented students from various academic levels. This competition, held simultaneously on the Pittsburgh and New York campuses, showcased the dedication and potential of the next generation of quantitative finance professionals.
The challenge provided students with a unique opportunity to apply their academic knowledge to real-world financial scenarios. The event featured two challenging cases: a Liability Trading Case and an Algorithmic Market Making Case. These scenarios pushed students to think critically and apply their skills in practical situations, mirroring the complexities they’ll face in their future careers.
One of the highlights of the event was the diversity of participants. From freshmen to master’s candidates, students from various academic backgrounds came together, spending their Saturday immersing themselves in this competitive learning environment. This diversity not only enriched the experience but also fostered valuable networking opportunities.

As a company committed to empowering students and bridging the gap between academia and industry, Code Willing was thrilled to attend this event.

The Code Willing team was impressed by the level of engagement and enthusiasm displayed by the participants. Robert Martinez of Code Willing shared his observations on the event:
“The event was a fantastic experience, and we were impressed by the level of engagement from over 100 students, ranging from Freshmen to Master’s candidates. These students gave up their Saturday to dive into this competitive learning environment, showing true dedication as they prepare for the high-stakes world of Capital Markets. It was an honor for our team to be part of this event, and we look forward to continuing conversations with CMU’s talented students.”
